Pre-boarding

Orientation Camp

Year 1: Developing Your Skills
Establish Your Mentoring Skills
- One-on-one Supervision
- Structured Mentorship Training Workshops
- Group Learning Experience
- Practice how to apply relevant mentoring knowledge and skills
- Learn how to build strong relationships with students, teachers, and communities
- Continuously reflect and grow
Your manager will observe you throughout the year and provide feedback, ideas, and space to reflect on ways to improve your mentoring and develop you as a leader.
A series of 6-8 training sessions per year on youth mentorship will equipped you with knowledge and skills to conduct effective mentoring.

Get Professionally Trained
- Mental Health First Aid Course
- Professional Development Fridays (both Year 1 & 2)
- Leadership Development (delivered by the certified master of The Leadership Challenge®)
- Narrative Therapy & Youth Work (all Mentors will completed a 18-hour certification course and a series of group practice sessions)
- Youth Engagement skills via board game, expressive arts and applied drama
- Education Equity (delivered by education scholars)
- Education & Youth Psychology (delivered by psychologists)
- Professional Development Fund (both Year 1 & 2)
TUF sponsors each Year 1 Mentor to take Mental Health First Aid course to get prepared the youth engagement in schools.
TUF will invite experienced trainers, psychologists, principal, counsellors, social workers to deliver professional development events and workshops throughout the year. Below are the main training area:
TUF will sponsor each Mentor maximum HKD2,000 per year to take external courses and seminars to enhance their leadership and mentoring skills.
Build Your Community

- Get to Know the Communities
The ties that Mentors and alumni create with each other often run deep, and these relationships offer opportunities to discuss and problem-solve challenges, celebrate milestones and accomplishments, and decompress from the school-based mentoring work.
Build close relationships with your school community—your students, fellow teachers, vice principals and your principal. Leverage on these relationships to exchanges ideas on mentorship.
TUF will also arrange visits to conferences, schools and NGOs which are dedicated in education and youth development to expand your network.
Year 2: Exploring Leadership Pathways
Refine Your Mentoring Skills
- Consolidate and Innovate School-based Mentorship
- Ensure your small group activities and mentoring style increasingly affirm and reflect students’ potentials
- Encourage student collaboration and advocacy that promotes growth as individuals and as collectives
- Regularly improve effectiveness through continuous reflection and learning
Explore Career Paths
- Identify Ways to Elevate Equity In Your Career
- The power and necessity of contributing as part of a collective
- Your values and unique contributions towards making educational equity a reality
- Career aspirations, potential roles, and development opportunities
To address educational inequality requires leadership inside and outside the educational system.
We will help you evolve your vision for how you’d like to contribute to educational equity now and in the future.
You’ll select one leadership pathway to explore throughout the year. Your pathway may evolve according to your interest. This exploration may take the form of online coursework, readings, speaker series, and other experiences.

Ongoing: All-round Coaching Support
Institutional Coaching
- In-school mentors as Institutional Coach
Our partner school will designate a vice principal as your Institutional Coach who will support your initial induction and adjustment in the school, provide ongoing guidance, support and feedback to improve your program delivery.
Field Coaching
- Experienced Practitioner as Field Coach
Each term we will invite experienced practitioners to observe your in-class and out-of-class mentoring activities in school to offer your practical advice and feedback to improve your program delivery.
Personal Coaching
- Qualified Professional Coaches as Personal Coaches
Each Program Mentor will match with a qualified professional coach with rich executive experiences as their personal coach. Our personal coaches meet Mentors once a month to support professional and personal development.
