Teaching<\/h3>\n<p>Mentorship is different from teaching in that the focus of teaching is mainly to impart knowledge through instruction and explanation. Instead of helping students learn content, mentorship uses a purposeful, one-on-one relationship to improve self-esteem, learning motivation, and learning attitude. <\/p>\n<h3 style=\"color:#eb8739\">Why Mentorship?<\/h3>\n<p>Our <a href=\"\/our-impact\/#needs-assessment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Needs Assessment<\/a> has highlighted the challenges confronting underprivileged and underachieving students in Hong Kong today.  TUF\u2019s frontline experience in the past ten years confirms that with a mentor\u2019s regular presence to build a purposeful, non-judgemental and trusting relationship, young people respond readily to their guidance and support.  They also look up to mentors as role models and try to emulate them, making them effective change agents to instil positive values in young people and help them aspire to a better future.<\/p>\n<h3
